Visit The Monument for
London History Day and find out about the day in 1913 when two suffragettes barricaded themselves at the top and threw leaflets to the crowds gathered below. Families are invite make their own campaign badges for their own causes.
Activities are free and take place outside The Monument but if you wish to visit inside standard admission charges apply.

In September 1730, a wager was made in the Baptist Head Tavern: could anyone run up to the observation gallery at the top of The Monument and back down again in under three minutes?
A challenger accomplished the feat "...in two minutes and a half and two seconds; which is look'd upon as an extraordinary performance of the kind" (Read's Weekly Journal, September 26th, 1730).
